It’s most likely my age, but cutting corners just never seems to enter my mind. I had a contractor ask me a couple of years ago why our pool beams were so thick. He said most pool builders were forming the top of the beam to look like 12”, then dropping back to 6” as the true beam thickness. I said why? He said to save money.
