For years I have always been asked the question “when is the best time to build a pool” and I always answer “yesterday.” Regardless of when you want it completed or if it’s price sensitive the answer always fits. I wake up every morning ready to design and build the next dream scape for all my clients that’s just how I function. For over 30 years my designers mind is always devoted to what if’s and how can I’s. So when a client/customer begs the question when should we start the pool project the definitive answer is “NOW.” Especially this time of the year. Our hard winter months are our best times for designing, cost accumulation and bid structuring. The permit process is faster and those days of getting off the ground or moreover getting in the ground are extremely positive versus the spring season when rain can sometimes go for days. I like to think of “April Showers bring May well cured Gunite Shells.” Plus bottle necks in some supply lines like Gunite, tile and coping and plaster can increase a client’s anxiety about timelines. There’s nothing more frustrating than the “hurry up and wait” we go through in construction, especially when the count down to the first pool party is already scheduled. So to all you future pool owners reading this please at least consider “telling” your pool builder when to start and not “asking.”
